Prime College of Pharmacy has conducted a 4 day workshop cum hands on training for the Seventh Semester B. Pharm students from 07/04/2025 to 10/04/2025. The workshop was coordinated and led by the Staff members Dr. Muhasina K M, Mrs. Greeshma S and Ms.Niranjana C M of Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis. The programme covered High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), operational principles and essential concepts, theory of separation mechanisms and modes, understanding the instrumentation, including possible configurations, solvent delivery pumps, sample injectors, columns, and detectors of HPLC. The workshop included a few special applications illustrated with real case studies and also a live demonstration of experiments, a simple group practical/hands‐on session on data interpretation with real data, and a quick update on the latest techniques/developments in HPLC. The students understood HPLC method development strategies, best practices in HPLC, basic maintenance of HPLC, troubleshooting process for problems like pressure, baseline, peak shape, and retention issues, and the practical applications of HPLC in Industry and academia. The students and faculty members for this hands-on training cum workshop actively attended and performed well throughout the session.
Prime College of Pharmacy has conducted a hands on training for the First Semester B. Pharm students on 01.02.2025, Saturday. The training aimed to equip the students with necessary skills to operate the equipments safely and efficiently. The session was guided by one of the prominent persons from the Industrial sector Mr. Jesto. T. Muttikkal, Director of ILSE Naturals, Thrissur.He began the session with a brief introduction to the equipments used in industries and its applications. He demonstrated the working of Tablet Punching Machine, Capsule Filling Machine and Dissolution Apparatus with detailed explanation. He made the students understand about the small scale and large scale production of Pharmaceutical products and differences in the equipment standards. The students learned about the procedures for setting up of the equipments, the safety and precautions for operating them and importance of its regular maintenance and cleaning. Overall, the hands on training was very informative, engaging and was an eye opening session to change their perspectives regarding the career opportunities in the Pharmaceutical industry field.
Prime College of Pharmacy has organized a seminar on “Current funding opportunities for aspiring student’s entrepreneur and innovators” for Eighth Semester B. Pharm students on 01.02.2025 in the Seminar Hall. The session was led by Mr. Aswin Ravichandran M, Formulation Researcher, SNAB Labs ltd. He highlighted about numerous funding opportunities in Pharmaceutical industrious. He educated the participants on various funding options, including grants, loans, crowd funding. He guided on how to prepare a successful funding application, including developing a compelling business plan and pitch. The students learn about government funding programmers for startups, research projects and innovative ideas and private funding options including venture capital and angel investing. The session concluded with pitching band presenting tips for projects and startup to potential investors and funding agencies.
A skill development training programme was organized by IQAC of Prime College of Pharmacy for I year Pharm D students on 01.02.2025. The Session was handled by Dr. K. Gowthamarajan, Professor & Head, Department Pharmaceutics JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty. The programme aimed to empower our students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to thrive in a rapidly changing world. It helped our students to think not only as skilled professionals but also as responsible citizens with the ability to make positive contributions to society. It also aimed to foster holistic development by focusing on professional skills along with personal growth, communication skills, emotional intelligence, and ethical values. The programme helped our students to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge gained in classrooms and real-world practical applications, thereby making education more relevant and impactful. In essence the skill development training programme revolve around empowering students with a combination of practical skills, personal growth opportunities, and career readiness strategies, all of which contribute to their success in the professional world and in life overall.
On behalf of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between Lincoln University College Malaysia and Prime College of Pharmacy Palakkad, an academic visit was conducted for a duration of one week (05.08.2024 - 10.08.2024) to the M.Pharm students. The programme included academic workshops, Research presentation sessions, Community Pharmacy Visit and expedition in and around Malaysia. The MOU aims to foster Academic and Research collaboration, Student and Faulty exchange Programs on mutual understanding between the two institutions. The primary objectives of the student exchange program is to enhance Academic and Research experiences for students through international exposure and to provide opportunities for students to gain valuable global perspectives and skills. The visit started with an orientation programme organized by Lincoln University College Malaysia and inaugural address was delivered by the President Prof. Dr. Amiya Bhaumik, Felicitation by Dean of Pharmacy Dr. Hazrina BT Hamid followed by the presentation sessions by their faculty. The first session on Pharmacy Law in Action: Regulatory Drug Safety in Malaysia was given by Mr. Encik Mohamad Nizam Ghani and the second session on Nanotechnology Approach for Herbal Medicine was delivered by Dr. Satheesh Babu. The next part of the academic visit was Academic Integration and Networking through Research Lab Observation. The faculty and students performed Research activities in relevant departments to understand the teaching style and curriculum. Meeting with Faculty with academic advisors and Professors to discuss academic goals, course selection, and research opportunities. Engaged in Student Networking activities with LUC students and exchange participants to build connections and discuss Research experiences. The students were engaged with workshop sessions conducted by Dr.Satheeshbabu and Ms. Neha Unnisha which includes Herbal Extraction, Herbal extract drying and Formulation of Phytochemical Loaded Nanoparticles and Nanoemulsion. Dr. Gosuddin explained the Total Phenolic and Flavonoid Content using UV Spectroscopy and Dr.Nadiah conducted a hands on training in Antioxidant Activity using Microplate Reader. The students participated in group projects, Notable academic achievements, Student presentations, Research collaborations, etc. The teaching methods were interactive and student-centered, with a focus on collaborative learning. The Lincoln Research students shared their experiences with international peers. The next session was Academic and Extracurricular Exploration in which the activities explored the university’s research facilities, including access to academic and research databases. A Hands on training in Encapsulation Eficiency and Drug Loading Analysis using UV Spectroscopy, HPLC and application of Gas Chromatography in Pharmaceutical Analysis was conducted by Dr. Gosuddin and Dr. Satheesh Babu. The student clubs offered a wide range of activities, from academic societies to Research groups. The faculty and students of both Institutions participated in a community service by visiting MEDICART Community Pharmacy in Petaling Jaya aimed at contributing to local social causes. Mr. Nizam Ghani explained the system of handling a prescription and dispensing procedures to the public. The Chief Operation Officer Ms. Aslin Hafiza Ali supported for the smooth conduct of this student exchange programme. The student exchange program has been a successful initiative, achieving its goals of fostering academic and Research collaboration exchange. The positive outcomes for participating students highlight the program's value and underscore the importance of continued collaboration. Both institutions are committed to enhancing and expanding this program in the future to benefit more students and strengthen International Research Collaborations.
Prime College of Pharmacy organized a Hands on Training programme on Handling of Dissolution Apparatus for the Fifth Semester B Pharmacy students on 15-05-2024. The resource person for the session was Mr. Shyam S Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics. It was a live demonstration to enhance the student's understanding about the dissolution apparatus, its’ working procedure and the determination of drug’s bioavailability and efficacy using it. He detailly explained about the various dissolution apparatus used commonly and also the various parameters including dissolution rate, dissolution profile, and dissolution efficiency. These added insights into how quickly and completely the drug dissolves. Students came to know about the mechanism of drug dissolution with clear cut idea about the means and ways of handling the apparatus.
Prime College of Pharmacy in association with IQAC organized a professional development training programme on Calibration techniques and handling of HPTLC for teaching faculties , M Pharm students and Lab assistants on 14/05/2024 . The programme was inaugurated by Principal, Prof. Dr N L Gowrishankar . The professional development training programme was delivered by Mr. Senthil Udaiyar, Senior Service engineer, Anchrom,Mumbai. The programme mainly focused to demonstrate the calibration of equipment, Sample feeding, TLC plate preparation and their handling, interpretation and documentation of results. The session also discussed about the parameters of HPTLC and their influence on analytical results. He explained about the Standardized HPTLC methodology, Derivatization procedures, Qualitative evaluation of chromatograms, Proper sampling techniques, Use of different stationary phases, Effects of the chamber configuration, Application of digital imaging technology for documentation and evaluation of chromatograms. A two-day International Conference- “Prime Pharma Conclave 2024: Reimaging The Emerging Pharmacy Scenario” on “Translational Research In Academic Organizations: From Bench to Bedside” was organized by Prime College of Pharmacy in association with Indian Pharmacy Graduates’ Association (Kerala State Branch). The International Conference held on 11 th and 12 th of January 2024, aimed to bring light to various aspects and thereby sparking thoughtful discussions and stimulating new ideas. About 600 delegates, students and well distinguished national and International speakers actively took part in the two day Conference. Prof. Dr. N.L Gowrishankar, Principal, Prime College of Pharmacy delivered the welcome address and followed by the Presidential Address by Dr. P.A Mohammed Ashraf, Chairman, Prime Educational and Charitable Trust. Dr. Rajasree. R.S, Honourable Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, KUHS, inaugurated the prestigious ceremony followed by the abstract release. Shri. P. M. Jayan, President, IPGA, Kerala State Branch, delivered the Key note address and Special address was given by Prof. Dr C.I. Sajeeth, Executive Trustee, Prime Educational and Charitable Trust. Dr. C S Satheesh Kumar, Vice President, IPGA released the Newsletter- INTRUZION. Dr. Nishith. M. C, Vice President- South, IPGA Executive Council and Mr. Dileep. G, Secretary, IPGA, Kerala State Branch addressed the gathering. Mr. Saju Rajappan, Senior Drugs Inspector, Thrissur and Mr. Lijeesh. A. K, Drugs Inspector, Palakkad delivered the felicitation. The first scientific session on “Relevance and Scope of Social Media in Current Pharmaceutical Academic And Research Environment” was delivered by Dr. Kamal Dua, Senior Lecturer University of Technology Sydney, Discipline of Pharmacy Graduates, School of Health, Sydney, Australia. Dr. Harish Dureja, Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, ,Haryana presented the second scientific session on “Digital Therapeutics and Pharmaceutical Regulatory Environment. The third scientific session was given by Dr. K. Gowthamarajan, Professor and Head of Department of Pharmaceutics, JSS academy of higher education and research, Mysore, Karnataka on “Pharmaceutical Research-Current and Future Challenges”. Dr. Sachin Kumar Singh, Professor & Head of Dept. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Analysis, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Lovely Professional University, Punjab delivered the last scientific session of the day on “Cross Talk Between Phytoconstituents And Nanotechnology In Mitigating Various Diseases”.After the four scientific sessions, the first day ended with incredible cultural programmes by our students. The second day of Prime Pharma Conclave 2024 started with the scientific session by Dr. Satheesh Babu Natarajan, Head of Department of Pharmaceutics, Faculty of Pharmacy, Lincoln University College, Malaysia on “Entrepreneurial Opportunities In Herbal Industry”. The heart of the Prime Pharma Conclave 2024 was the Live Demonstrations and e-poster presentations. The Live Demonstrations-“3D Printing” by 3-ZERO and “Beyond Boundaries-AR-NR reshaping Pharma Landscape” by Kewaunee Labway India Pvt Ltd was really engaging. Students and delegates of different departments of various colleges actively participated in the e- poster presentations. The scientific sessions ended with a talk by Mr. Anoop Ambika, Chief Executive Officer, Kerala Start Up Mission, Nodal Agency of Government of Kerala on “Start Up Mission: Start Up Opportunities And Government Schemes In Pharmacy Field”. The most awaited IPGA Meritorious Award ceremony and Valedictory function was held after the scientific sessions. Dr. Nishith. M. C, Vice President- South, IPGA, Executive Council welcomed the gathering to the award ceremony, followed by the Presidential Address by Shri. P. M. Jayan, President, IPGA, Kerala State Branch. Mr. Anoop AmbikaChief Executive Officer, Kerala Start Up Mission, Nodal Agency of Government of Kerala proudly inaugurated the IEDC of our college. Dr. Rajasree. R.S, Dean, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, KUHS delivered the special address and Mr. Abdul Nazeer, Executive member IPGA felicitated the gathering, followed by the declaration of IPGA Awards by Mr. Dileep. G, Secretary, IPGA , Kerala State Branch. Ramabhadran Memorial Best Pharmacy Teacher Award was awarded to Dr. Dileep K.J, Professor, T.D Medical College, Alappuzha. N. Chandrashekhar Nair Memorial Best Drug Regulatory Officer Award was presented to Mr. Joshy T I, Drugs Inspector, Ernakulam. G.R. Nair Memorial Best Community Pharmacist was awarded to Mr. Patroni DCosta. Dr.S. B. Rao Memorial Best Industrial Pharmacist was awarded to Mr. Sreejith P.R. The certificates, cash award and memento was distributed to the winners of e- poster presentations. The glorious function ended with National Anthem.

Satheesh Kumar Sir , President IPGA, Kerala State Branch(Former Deputy Drug Controller, Kerala) delivered the key note address. Prof. Dr C.I. Sajeeth sir , Executive Trustee, Prime Educational and Charitable Trust addressed the gathering. The scientific session Career Opportunities for Pharmacy Professionals in Medical Devices was led by Dr. Kalaiselvan, M.Pharm., Ph.D., Senior Principal Scientific Officer, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission,Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi. The session Molecules to Medicines- Industrial Perspective was conducted by Mr. RANADEEP BOKALIAL, M.Pharm., Senior group leader and head, Pharmaceutical Development, Aurigene Discovery Technologies limited, Bengaluru. The final session was led by Dr.K.Gowthamarajan, M.Pharm., Ph.D, Professor and Head of Department of Pharmaceutics, JSS academy of higher education and research, /Mysore on Next Generation Pharmaceuticals- Challenges and Opportunities. The scientific sessions was followed by the IPGA student forum inauguration and distribution of IPGA meritorious awards.
On behalf of Prime College of Pharmacy one day National Seminar “PRIME PHARMACONCLAVE – 2019” was organized. Indian Association Colleges of Pharmacy Vice President Prof. Dr. T. K. Ravi Inaugurated the programme. A wide Participation of various Pharmacy students, Faculty, Research Scholars from different states took part in this National Level Seminar. About 501 Members participated in this seminar on “Contemporary Advances in Pharmaceutical Sciences”. The sessions of the seminar was conducted by eminent speakers. First session was presented by Dr. Sam T. Mathew Head Clinical E Submission & Technical Compliance Delivery, GlaxoSmithKline Asia Pvt. Ltd. Bangalore on the topic “Ethics in Research Publishing”. Followed by the Second session where Dr. K. Gowthamarajan, Professor, HOD of Pharmaceutics, JSS Academy of Higher Education, Mysore spoke on the title “Future pharmaceutical for next generation”. He emphasized on the usage of Artificial Intelligence in the field of Pharmacy and the new innovations that can be established. It was very useful for the Pharmacy students to update the new entries in pharmacy field. Third Session was undertaken by Dr. S. Sriram, Professor, HOD of Pharmacy Practice, Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Coimbatore, on the title “Pharmacists – in Improving in quality of healthcare”. As a part of this Programme a Poster presentation competition was conducted. Out of 84 posters best three posters, were selected and cash award, certificate, Memento were distributed to the winners during the Prize distribution ceremony. The first prize bagged by Juna K., Amritha School of Pharmacy was awarded with certificate, memento and cash prize of Rs.5000. The second prize was won by Helen Thomas, Nirmala College of Pharmacy, Muvattupuzha and she was awarded with certificate, mementoand Cash prize of Rs.3000 and Third prize winner was Aswathy R. Devan of Mount Zion College of Pharmaceutical sciences and research, who was awarded with certificate, memento and cash prize of Rs.2000. As a part of the seminar, The Guest of honour was delivered by Palakkad Drugs Inspector Mr. Nishith M. C. On this occasion Prime Educational&Charitable Trust Chairman Dr. P. A. Mohammed Ashraf, Secretary B. Rahim, Executive Trustee Dr. C. I. Sajeeth, KUHS Senate Member Dr. K. Krishnakumar, Prime College of Pharmacy Principal Dr. N. A Seminar on the topic “Drug Discovery & Drug Development” was presented by Dr. C. I. Jolly, Research Advisor, CARe KERALAM Ltd. and president of Indian Pharmaceutical Assiociation, Kerala state branch. He emphasized the importance of pharmacist in health care team and also highlighted the role of pharmacist in patient care.
A lecture was conducted by Dr.VALLIAPPAN KANNAPPAN, Adjunct Professor, IISM, SRM IST and a retired Professor of Quality Assurance, Department of Pharmacy, Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu on the topic “A Prelude to Chirality”. The lecture highlighted the significance of Chirality in drug research among the academia and the presentation was intended to motivate and invite pharmaceutical scientists to pursue research in Chiral Science.
Dr. R. Manavalan, Research Director (PG, Ph. D), RVS College of Pharmaceutical Sciences Coimbatore conducted a lecture on the topic “Careers in pharmacy”. The importance of pharmacy as a profession in the current society, and the probabilities in research and development was the major highlighted point.
A seminar on the topic, “Professional and Academic Perspectives of pharmacy” was delivered by Dr. Shanish Antony, Assistant Professor, College of Pharmaceutical sciences, Govt. Medical college, Kottayam.
Stress management workshop for B.Pharm and D.Pharm students was conducted in our college on 15th November 2014. Shri. O. L. Thomas, Ex- sports officer, IISCO Steel Plant West Bengal was the chief guest for the occasion. He has a technical experience in Airforce engineering as flight mechanic engineer 1964-1972. He is also a well-known Athletic coach and he has received many awards “Best sportsman awards from Indian Airforce and services (1968), Inter TATA athletic meet at Bombay, Inter- state athletic championship at Kottayam (1972), Sports journalist association West Bengal (1979), from chief minister Jyoti Basu. He has received special awards from IISCO (SAIL) in the year 2000. He is a corporate trainer for stress management, fitness and personality development and he gave a speech on stress management therapy and presented a PowerPoint insisting on the brain refreshment and activation of it through certain games. All the students were engaged in performing the activities and the students were benefited by getting real refreshment. He also gave certain tips to overcome the tiredness that students face in their day to day life. The programme ended with National anthem.
