As part of the Social Pharmacy curriculum under the D. Pharmacy Education Regulations (ER 2020), Prime College of Pharmacy organized a field visit for the First Year D. Pharmacy students (2025 Batch) to Devashrayam Special Child Home, Palakkad, on 06 June 2026.The visit began with an orientation session led by the Principal, Mrs. Vinitha, who introduced the students to the institution’s background, vision, objectives, policies, and the range of services provided for children with special needs. The session helped students understand the role of special schools in promoting the overall development and well-being of differently abled children.During the visit, the students had the opportunity to observe various therapeutic and educational activities conducted at the institution. They interacted with the children and gained valuable insights into behavioural therapy and other support services offered by the school. The experience enabled them to better appreciate the efforts taken to address the diverse learning and developmental requirements of the students.The field visit provided a practical understanding of the teaching methodologies adopted in special education. Students learned how individualized instructional plans, specialized learning materials, assistive devices, and supportive environments are utilized to facilitate effective learning and skill development among children with special needs.The visit was both informative and enriching, offering students a unique perspective on special education and rehabilitation services. It enhanced their awareness, compassion, and understanding of the challenges faced by differently abled children and the dedicated approaches employed to support their growth and independence. Prime College of Pharmacy celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to environmental sustainability. The programme was jointly organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS – NSS/SFU/PKD/KUHS/1) and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the institution. The event was conducted to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices among students and staff members.The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. A. Sumathy, Vice Principal, and Dr. T. Sengottuvel, Head of the Department of Pharmacology. As a symbol of environmental responsibility and commitment to a greener future, NSS volunteers presented a plant sapling to Dr. A. Sumathy during the inauguration ceremony. Following the inauguration, NSS volunteers actively participated in a tree-planting drive and planted saplings in the institution’s medicinal garden, emphasizing the importance of increasing green cover, conserving biodiversity, and protecting the environment.An Environmental Awareness Exhibition was organized in the Seminar Hall on 05-06-2026 at 2:00 PM with the objective of creating awareness about environmental protection, sustainability, and eco-friendly practices among students and faculty members. Students from the B.Pharm, D.Pharm, and Pharm.D programmes actively participated in the exhibition. A total of six teams showcased innovative ideas, models, posters, and presentations focusing on various environmental themes, including environmental conservation, waste management, renewable energy, biodiversity protection, and sustainable living practices. The exhibition provided an excellent platform for students to demonstrate their creativity, scientific knowledge, and commitment to environmental sustainability.The exhibits were evaluated by a panel of faculty members comprising Dr. K. Selvaraju, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics; Dr. S. Thangamani, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice; and Dr. Sini T. Inasu, Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice. The projects were assessed based on creativity, scientific relevance, presentation skills, environmental impact, and overall effectiveness. Out of the six participating teams, the three best teams were selected and awarded prizes based on their performance and presentation quality. The First Prize was secured by the 6th Semester B.Pharm students, while the Second Prize and Third Prize were awarded to the III Year Pharm.D students and II Year D.Pharm students, respectively.The prizes were distributed on the same day, recognizing the efforts and achievements of the participants. The celebration of World Environment Day 2026 was a grand success, fostering environmental consciousness among students and staff and reinforcing the institution’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. Through activities such as tree planting and the environmental exhibition, the programme effectively inspired participants to adopt environmentally responsible practices and contribute towards a greener and healthier future.
Menstrual health is a fundamental aspect of human rights, dignity, and public health. Menstrual Hygiene Day, observed annually on May 28th, is dedicated to breaking taboos and raising awareness about the importance of good menstrual hygiene management (MHM). The theme of this year is #PeriodFriendlyWorld, bringing together governments, United Nations agencies, civil society organizations, researchers and communities to promote menstrual health and hygiene. Good menstrual hygiene is crucial for the health, well-being, and empowerment of women and girls worldwide. On behalf of this day, Prime College of Pharmacy, in association with NSS Unit (No. NSS/SFU/PKD/KUHS/1), IQAC and Department of Pharmacy Practice organized a Menstrual Hygeine Awareness Program on 04.06.2026 at Government Victoria Girls Higher Secondary School, Chittur, Palakkad. The program was officially inaugurated by Mr. T. Giri, Principal, GVGHSS and Dr. Sini T Inasu, Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice of Prime College of Pharmacy conducted a seminar about the importance of the day, menstruation, issues related to poor menstrual hygiene, and preventive measures to promote good menstrual health and hygiene practices. A leaflet on menstrual hygiene was provided to the students to educate them and create awareness about the importance of menstrual hygiene. Finally, the participants' knowledge was assessed using a Knowledge assessment form. About 150 students actively took part in the awareness program with great enthusiasm. Prime College of Pharmacy organized a field visit for the first-year D. Pharmacy students (2025 batch) to the Santhigiri Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, Olassery, Kodumbu, Palakkad. on 02/06/2026. This visit was part of the new D. Pharmacy (ER 2020) regulations for the Pharmacognosy syllabus.As part of our D.Pharm curriculum, the students visited an Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital to gain practical knowledge about Ayurveda, patient care, laboratory services, and medicinal plants. The medicinal garden contained a large variety of medicinal plants used in Ayurveda. Each plant was labelled with its botanical name, Sanskrit name, and medicinal uses. During our visit to the medicinal garden, they observed a special section containing birth star (Nakshatra) based medicinal plants. They learned about the importance of conserving these plants and their role in ayurvedic medicine.The educational visit provided valuable practical exposure to ayurvedic healthcare, laboratory practices, and medicinal plant cultivation. It enhanced their understanding of traditional medicine and its importance in health care. Vice Principal Dr. Sumam E, Dr. Arya V M (Professor and HOD), Dr. Sneha M S (Professor) guided and supported the students during the visit. Prime College of Pharmacy organized a field visit for the first-year D. Pharmacy students (2025 batch) to the Family Health Centre in Pudussery, Palakkad, on 26/05/2026. This visit was part of the new D. Pharmacy (ER 2020) regulations for the Social Pharmacy syllabus. To fulfill our D. Pharm curriculum, we sought practical knowledge about Pharmacy services and the role of Pharmacists in Primary Healthcare. Medical Officer Dr.Athira, Pharmacist Ms. Dhivya provided the proper guidance to the students. During the visit, they observed the Pharmacy setup, medicine storage conditions, inventory management practices, prescription handling, and drug dispensing procedures. They learned about the importance of keeping proper records, monitoring stock and expiry dates, and ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines. The Pharmacist explained how to dispense medications and provide patient counselling on dosage, administration, and following treatment plans. This visit gave them valuable insight into the daily activities of a Pharmacy in a healthcare context. It helped them to understand how Pharmaceutical knowledge applies to patient care. Hypertension is often called the "silent killer" because it rarely shows early symptoms, yet significantly increases the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and kidney failure.The focal theme for World HypertensionDay- 2026was"Controlling Hypertension Together: Check your blood pressure regularly, defeat the silent killer."The theme emphasizes the importance of regular blood pressure monitoring and collective action in preventing complications caused by Hypertension. It promotes awareness, early detection, and healthy lifestyle practices to defeat the “silent killer”.On behalf of this day, Prime College of Pharmacy in association with Department of Pharmacy Practice and NSS unit(No. NSS/SFU/PKD/KUHS/1), successfully organised a Hypertension awareness programon 19-05-2026 at Taluk Head Quarters Hospital, Chittur. The awareness program was inaugurated by Dr.Rahul Varma,Resident Medical Officer (Superintendent in-charge).The Nursing Superintendent Mrs. Bindu and Hospital Infection Controller Mrs. Radha guided the students for conducting the program successfully.Fourth Sem B.Pharm students visited and interacted with people in the community to educate them about Hypertension and its healthimpact, to inform them about the symptoms and risk factors of Hypertension, to encourage early screening and diagnosis, to provide guidance on treatment and medication adherence, and their preventive strategies such as smoking cessation, lifestyle changes and improve food habits. In general, the initiative had a beneficial effect by disseminating vital information and encouraging early diagnosis and prevention of Hypertension. Ongoing awareness initiatives will help the community in handling and preventing this chronic illness. St. Joseph’s College of Pharmacy, Cherthala, successfully hosted Pharmolsavam 2026, a grand three-day state-level inter-Pharmacy college cultural festival held from May 14 to May 16, 2026. The mega event officially commenced with a grand opening ceremony inaugurated by Shri P. Prasad, former Minister and Cherthala MLA.This year’s festival witnessed an unprecedented turnout, bringing together over 1,500 student delegates from 32 prestigious Pharmacy colleges across Kerala. Throughout the three-day extravaganza, participants passionately competed for top honors in a diverse array of events, ranging from performing arts like group dance, music, mime, and mimicry, to competitive literary debates and fine arts competitions. Prime College of Pharmacy marked an outstanding presence at Pharmolsavam 2026, with students achieving remarkable success across multiple programs.In the individual events, students achieved prizes in competitions such as Classical Music (Karnatic), Mohiniyattam, Mono Act, Folk Dance, Mimicry, English Recitation, Painting, and Poem Writing. Notably, Mohammed Fazil K of VII Semester B Pharm secured the First Prize in Mimicry, while several other students won Second and Third prizes in their respective events.The college also secured Third Prize in the group event Oppana (Female), where the team members delivered an outstanding performance that was widely appreciated.The outstanding achievements at Pharmolsavam 2026 stand as a testimony to the talent, hard work, and team spirit of the students of Prime College of Pharmacy. World Ovarian Cancer Day is observed annually on May 8. The global awareness event focuses on educating the public about the disease, highlighting the importance of early detection, and advocating for equitable access to treatment and support for women worldwide. The theme for 2026 is "No Woman Left Behind". On behalf of this day, Prime College of Pharmacy in association with NSS Unit (No. NSS/SFU/PKD/KUHS/1), IQAC and Department of Pharmacy Practice has organized World Ovarian cancer Awareness Camp on 12.05.2026 at Government Taluk Hospital, Chittur. As a part of the awareness camp, Third year Pharm D students circulated the patient information leaflets, focusing the importance of the day and students counseled them about the risk factors, early diagnosis and the prevention of ovarian cancer. They were successful in educating and raising awareness about ovarian cancer and, its risks, symptoms and importance of early detection among the public. The program was inaugurated by. The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has declared March 6 to be National Pharmacy Education Day in remembrance of Professor Mahadeva Lal Schroff's birth anniversary and to honour his role in founding Pharmacy Education in India. On behalf of this day, students of Prime College of Pharmacy attended a Oneday National Seminar- PHARMA ANVESHAN 2026- “Future Pharma Ecosystem: Fostering Synergy among Academia, Industry, Research, Regulatory and Practice” held at St. James’ College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chalakudy on 28-03-2026. Dr. K.Krishnakumar, Principal,St. James’ College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, welcomed the gathering.The inaugural address was given by Shri. Jashubhai Hirabhai Chaudri.Dr. Niranjan Babu Central Council Member, PCI, Dr. Saleemulla , Karnataka State coordinator PCI,delivered the felicitation.Plenary lectures was delivered by distinguished industry leaders and experts. The key note session was given by Dr. Vasudeva Reddy Akepati regarding the topic “The skill gap: What industry 5.0 needs from the 2026 Graduate”. The second session on Co- Innovation Models: Setting up Industry-Sponsored Centre of Excellence”. The most informative session was followed by the oral presentation and e-poster presentation by the students and research scholars from across the state. Every year on March 24, the global community observes World Tuberculosis (TB) Day to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social, and economic consequences of tuberculosis.World TB Day 2026 emphasizes national leadership and community action. Prime College of Pharmacy in association with NSS Unit (No. NSS/SFU/PKD/KUHS/1), IQAC, and the Department of Pharmacy Practice organized a Tuberculosis Awareness Camp in observance of World Tuberculosis Day on 24-03-2026 at Taluk Head Quarter Hospital, Chittur, Palakkad. The theme for World Tuberculosis Day 2026, “Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver,” highlights the urgent need for collective efforts to eliminate tuberculosis through awareness, early detection, and proper treatment. The program was inaugurated by Ms. Swathy, Public Relations Officer of Taluk Head Quarter Hospital, Chittur, Palakkad. The event was coordinated by Dr. S. Thangamani, Professor & Head of the Department, and Dr. Sini T. Inasu, Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Prime College of Pharmacy, Palakkad. As part of the initiative,third-year Pharm D students actively participated by distributing patient information leaflets emphasizing the importance of the day and its theme. Prime College of Pharmacy organized a Fire Safety and First-Aid Awareness Program on 07-03-2026 in collaboration with the Kerala Fire and Rescue Services. The session was conducted by Fire and Rescue officers,Mr. Sandeep S and Mr. Firose S, from the Government of Kerala, Fire and Safety Department to educate students and staff on essential emergency response measures. The team demonstrated various rescue techniques for different emergency scenarios, highlighting practical methods for handling fire accidents and other safety hazards. A mock drill was also conducted to demonstrate the proper procedure for controlling and stopping gas leakage from an LPG cylinder, providing participants with hands-on awareness of fire prevention and safety practices. The program significantly enhanced the participants’ understanding of fire safety measures, first-aid practices, and emergency preparedness

The Anti-Drug Campaign 2026 was successfully organized at Prime College of Pharmacy on 20th February 2026 in association with Vimukthi Mission, Kerala Excise Department with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and empowering them to make informed life choices. The programme commenced at 10:30 AM with the assembly of students. The event began with a prayer song rendered by the pharmacy students, setting a positive and respectful tone for the session. The Welcome Address was delivered by the Principal Prof. Dr. N. L. Gowrishankar, he emphasized the crucial role of educational institutions in shaping responsible citizens and highlighted the importance of staying away from substance abuse. The Presidential Address was delivered by Mr. Sajeev S, Assistant Excise Commissioner and Vimukthi Mission Palakkad District Manager. He spoke about the growing concerns related to drug abuse among youth and the various initiatives undertaken by the Excise Department to combat the menace. He appreciated the college management for organizing such a meaningful campaign and encouraged students to act as ambassadors of an anti-drug movement in society. The highlight of the programme was the seminar session conducted by Mr. Satheesh K, renowned Hypnotist and Mentalist and Worldwide Book of Record Holder. He delivered an engaging and interactive session on the topic “Unlock Your Subconscious”. Through practical demonstrations and motivational insights, he explained how the power of the subconscious mind can be used to overcome negative influences, build strong willpower, and make positive life decisions. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Vice Principal Dr. Sumathy A, who expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, organizers, and students for their active participation and support. The event ended with the National Anthem. The Anti-Drug Campaign 2026 was a meaningful and impactful initiative that successfully raised awareness and inspired students to lead a drug-free and responsible life.
Each year we commemorate World Cancer Day, February 4, to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of cancer and to strengthen cancer management. World Cancer Day is a day to educate the public about the impact of Cancer around the world. The theme of World Cancer Day 2026 “United by Unique” conveys a message which reminds that every cancer journey matters, and that collective action is key to ensuring compassionate, equitable care for all. On behalf of this day, Second Year Pharm.D students of Prime College of Pharmacy, in association with IQAC and NSS (Unit no.NSS/SFU/PKD/KUHS/1) conducted an awareness programme at Taluk Headquarters Hospital, Chittur, Palakkad on 13.02.2026. The program's main goal was to raise awareness of the socioeconomic factors such as gender and cultural norms, income and educational attainment, handicap, and lifestyle that contribute to differences in cancer prevention, incidence, and survival. Senior Nursing Officer Mrs. Latha & PRO Mrs. Swathy, helped to arrange and coordinate the Flashmob performed by our students.Our students distributed Pamphlets and made individual interaction with patients and created awareness among public regarding cancer prevention and early diagnosis. Our students actively tookpart in the programme and the flashmob seeked public attention.
