Prime College of Pharmacy in association with Indian Pharmacy Graduates’ Association (IPGA, Kerala State Branch) celebrated 62nd National Pharmacy Week 2023 (19-25 November). The theme of this year is “Join Pharmacists to ensure Patient Safety”. The competitions was officially inaugurated by our Principal Dr. N. L. Gowrishankar. As a part of the celebrations, competitions like oral presentation, e-poster presentation, quiz, mime and tableau were conducted at our college. Students from M. Pharm, B. Pharm, Pharm. D and D. Pharm actively participated in all the competitions conducted. The winners for the competitions were announced and memento and certificates were distributed on the Valedictory function conducted on 25.11. 2023 by our Principal Dr. N. L. Gowrishankar and Vice Principal Dr. A. Sumathy.

The theme of this year is “Join Pharmacists to ensure Patient Safety”. This year “National Pharmacy Week” is celebrated from 19-25 November and it is an opportunity to raise our patients’ and colleagues’ awareness about the vital role Pharmacists play on the healthcare team. About 35 students participated in the flash mob held at Civil station, Palakkad. The programme was a new experience to the public creating awareness about the role and importance of Pharmacists in health care. Apart from this, World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, celebrated from 18-24 November of every year, organized by IQAC and NSS Unit (NSS/SFU/PKD/KUHS/1). An awareness on use of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance was also given by our students to the crowd.

It is an opportunity to raise your patients’ and colleagues’ awareness about the vital role pharmacists play on the healthcare team. The theme of this year is “Join Pharmacists to ensure Patient Safety”. Dr. A. Sumathy, Vice Principal, Prime College of Pharmacy delivered the welcome address and Pharmacy Practice HOD, Dr. Sivakumar. P officially flagged off the rally. About 100 students from Seventh Semester B Pharm and First Year Diploma participated in the rally held from Chittur Anikode Junction to Mini Civil Station. The rally was intended to sensitize the stakeholders and send a strong message to society regarding the role of Pharmacists in delivering proper health care facilities with special reference to drug administration and patient safety. Attractive placards were prepared by the students through which the message was passed on to the community regarding the role of Pharmacist in safety and efficacy of medicines. Along with this, pamphlets on Antibiotic resistance were distributed among the Chittur residents as a part of World Antimicrobial Awareness Week, celebrated from 18-24 November of every year, organized by IQAC and NSS Unit (NSS/SFU/PKD/KUHS/1) .The students effectively spreaded awareness highlighting this year’s theme- “Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together”. The rally was a huge success in highlighting the importance of day.
World COPD Day had been observed every year on the third Wednesday of November to raise awareness of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), amongst the public around the world. On 15-11-2023, Wednesday, Prime College of Pharmacy in association with IQAC and NSS Unit (NSS/SFU/PKD/KUHS/1) organized an awareness programme about the day .Seventh Semester B Pharm students has given an awareness program based on the theme "Breathing is Life - Act Earlier" at Taluk Hospital ,Elapully. This theme highlights early attention to lung health, timely identification, and preventive action. Dr.Anoop, Superintendent of Taluk Hospital ,Elapully has accompanied our students throughout the awareness camp .Students has given awareness to the public by distributing pamphlets ,in which the details of reasons and preventive measures as well as treatments are mentioned. The program was well coordinated by Mr.A Mohammed Harish, Mrs.Aysumma.C. U &Mrs.Unnimaya.P.S . The program was concluded by figuring out the importance of the day.
World Mental Health Day is an International day for global mental health education, awareness and advocacy against social stigma. The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.This year is an opportunity for people and communities to unite behind the theme ‘Mental health is a universal human right” to improve knowledge, raise awareness and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as a universal human right.On behalf of this day, Prime College of Pharmacy in association with IQAC and NSS Unit ( NSS/SFU/PKD/KUHS/1) organized a Workshop on Stress Management for the First year B Pharm and Pharm D students on 31.10.2023.Mr. O.L.Thomas , Asian Games Medalist , NS -NIS Coach ( Athletics )and Corporate Trainer -Stress Management conducted the Workshop for the students at Seminar Hall.Prof. Dr.A. Sumathy, Vice Principal, Prime College of Pharmacy started the programme with the welcome speech followed by the inaugural address byProf. Dr .N.L. Gowrishankar, Principal, Prime College of Pharmacy. The session was initiated with the Powerpoint presentation focusing on areas of stress relief among the youngsters and meaningful progress towards better mental health. The physical and mental sessions held thereafter helped the students to bring out their confidence to cope with the stresses of life, realize their abilities, learn well and work well.The Workshop provided an opportunity for all students to talk about their stress, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.The students actively participated in the Workshop activities with great enthusiasm and energy. The programme ended with the feedback and interactive session by the students followed by the National Anthem.
World Students' Day is widely celebrated on October 15 every year to mark the birth anniversary of former President APJ Abdul Kalam.“Dream is not something that you see while sleeping , it is something that does not let you sleep.” This APJ Abdul Kalam’s quote has inspired students to lead their life. This quote also signifies his thoughts’ importance in students’ life. The main theme of this day is to inspire students to live a meaningful and fruitful life. It is also meant to provide them a good direction in life, so that they can contribute maximum to Nation’s development. The theme of World Student’s Day 2023 is ‘If you fail, never give up because F.A.I.L. means ‘First Attempt in Learning’. On behalf of this day, a Pencil Drawing competition was conducted at Prime College of Pharmacy on 12-10-2023 from 2 to 3 pm. Nine students from the B. Pharmacy and D. Pharmacy participated in the event on the theme- DREAMS OF APJ ABDUL KALAM FOR OUR NATION. The students actively took part in the event conducted in the Seminar Hall. E.J. Vignesh from Second Semester B. Pharmacy won the First prize.
Antidrug campaign: A campaign to raise awareness about the major challenge that illicit drugs represent to society as a whole, and especially to the young. The goal of the campaign is to mobilize support and inspire people to act against drug use. Prime College of Pharmacy along with IQAC and NSS Unit (NSS/SFU/PKD/KUHS/1) organized an awareness seminar as a part of Anti drug campaign in association with Vimukthi Mission and Kerala Excise Department. Dr. A. Sumathy, Vice Principal welcomed the gathering. The seminar session was conducted by one of the most renowned personality Mr. Abdul Bassith, Civil Excise Officer, Excise Range Office, Palakkad. The session was truly an eye opener to the students and staff members. He represented the campaign as an initiative against violations of human rights and inequality, especially in the areas of health, education, employment, safety and interaction. The students expressed their feedback about the seminar which was the highlight of the event. The antidrug pledge was recitated by the speaker and the delegates. The students who participated in the short film competitions as a part of the campaign was appreciated in the programme. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Aiswarya. A. T, Associate Professor, Prime College of Pharmacy. The programme winded up by quoting the words “Say NO to Drugs, Say YES to Life”.
An appreciation programme was conducted on 25-09-2023 by Vimukthi Mission, Kerala Excise Department, Palakkad branch for winning First prize in the state wide short film competition organized by the Kerala Niyamasabha Secretariat in association with Kerala Legislative Assembly Media and Parliamentary Study Centre as a part of awareness campaign on drug addiction. Our short film was based on the theme “SAY NO TO DRUGS” .The short film was telecasted and posted in the official channels and social media platforms of Government of Kerala and was used in the drug awareness campaigns throughout the state. The momento was distributed in the Vimukthi camp, conducted at Govt.Polytechnic College, Palakkad by the honorable MLA Mr. A. Prabhakaran, Malampuzha constituency in the presence of esteemed delegates participated in the programme.
Every year on September 25, World Pharmacist Day is commemorated with the goal of highlighting and advocating the pharmacist’s contribution to health improvement. “Pharmacy strengthening health systems” is the theme of World Pharmacists Day 2023. On behalf of this day, Prime College of Pharmacy along with IQAC and NSS (Unit No. MP032A-126) organized a Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Palakkad District Hospital , through which 29 units of blood was donated by both students and the staff members of the college. The camp was cordially inaugurated by Dr. N. L. Gowrishankar, Principal, Prime College of Pharmacy, addressing the camp regarding the relevance of blood donation. Dr. Indu V. P, Blood Bank Medical Officer, District Hospital Palakkad along with M. V .Mohandas, Technical Supervisor; and Ranjith . C, Councellor headed the camp. Benson, Nursing officer; Devika Ranjini; Ranjith and Mohammed Ali provided the necessary support along with the student volunteers. The drive witnessed an extensive participation from the donors. Following the camp, the Kerala State AIDS Control Society/Kerala State Blood Transfusion Council provided the certificates to the donors. The camp effectively ends up in bringing a ray of hope among the students and staffs to donate blood and make a difference in one’s life.
The world community realizing the adverse effects of depletion of Ozone Layer, signed an international treaty, the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer on 16th September, 1987, for phase out of production and consumption of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODSs), responsible for depletion of ozone layer. World Ozone Day or International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer observed annually on September 16, is meant to raise awareness about the importance of the ozone layer and how its depletion is leading to global warming and climate change across the world. The theme of World Ozone Day 2023 is ''Montreal Protocol: Fixing the Ozone Layer and Reducing Climate Change.'' As part of World Ozone Day, Prime College of Pharmacy conducted a Cartoon competition for our students to raise awareness about the depletion of the ozone layer and explore ways to protect it. The competition was conducted in Lecture Hall VI at 2:30 PM. The students actively participated. The winner of the competition was Nandhana. N and the prize were distributed to the winner.
Onam brings together a multitude of colours and flavours from across God’s Own Country, and the celebrations reach their apex on the auspicious day of Thiruvonam. The celebrations for Onam are held for ten days, beginning with the atham asterism in the month of Chingam (August / September) as per the local calendar. Prime College of Pharmacy celebrated Onam on the college premises involving students, staffs and management. The celebrations started with setting up of an attractive floral decoration (pookalam). The celebration was inaugurated by Principal, Prof. Dr. N. L Gowrishankar. The main attractions of the programme were Pookalam competition and Thiruvathirakkali competition conducted among students. Students participated in the programs with great enthusiasm and joy. The traditional Onam Sadya was served to the gathering .The onam celebration ends with cultural events at the campus.
The continuous struggle for women’s participation and equality in all spheres of life and society is observed on Women’s Equality Day on August 26. This year’s theme for Women’s Equality Day is #Embrace Equity. The theme highlights the need to achieve gender parity, which is not just essential for economic growth but also fundamental human rights. Prime College of Pharmacy celebrated this day highlighting the steps taken in the direction of achieving gender equality. The program began with the Welcome address by Prof. Dr. N. L. Gowrishankar, Principal followed by the Presidential address by Prof. Dr. C. I. Sajeeth, Executive Trustee, Prime Educational and Charitable trust. Mrs. Divya .D, Drug Inspector, Palakkad delivered the Inaugural address. Felicitation was given by Mrs. Kumari. K, Ward member , Kodumbu Grama Panchayath , Prof. Dr. K. Selvaraju , HOD ,Dept. of Pharmaceutics and Prof. Dr. Janarthanan.T, HOD, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Prof. Dr. Sumathy . A, Vice Principal concluded the session with a Vote of Thanks. Another interactive session on the topic “The future of Pharmacy: Recognizing and Empowering Women through Women’s Equality Day” was given by the Chief Guest- Mrs. Divya D, Drug Inspector, Palakkad. As part of the event, a mime was performed by Fifth Semester B Pharmacy students and skit was played by Second Semester B Pharmacy students, conveying the importance of the day. A human chain was formed in front of the college campus with the girls students and female staffs along with the guests.
On August 15, 2023, India proudly celebrated its 77th Independence Day, marking 76 years of freedom. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Nation First, Always First,” an integral part of the broader “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” Celebration. The flag hoisting was followed by recitation of patriotic songs. The pledge was taken commemorating the historic occasion, honoring our past while embracing the promises of tomorrow. The event was concluded with National Anthem.
World Organ Donation Day is observed every year on August 13 to spread awareness around importance of organ donation and bust myths around it. Donating organs is considered a noble cause as it amounts to leasing a person a new life. The theme for World Organ Donation Day 2023 is “Step up to volunteer; need more organ donors to fill the lacunae”. By becoming an organ donor, you can save the lives of others. Speaking on the importance of spreading awareness surrounding organ donation, the NSS Unit No. MP032A-126 along with IQAC at Prime College of Pharmacy organized programs highlighting the same. Our students actively participated by presenting several organ models for the competition. The winners were selected and prizes were distributed.
World Day for International Justice is observed to raise awareness about grave human rights abuses and the crucial role of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in combating them. This occasion provides an opportunity to emphasize the importance of upholding the rule of law, respecting human rights, and standing against impunity for those responsible for such atrocities. Prime College of Pharmacy Celebrated International justice day on 19.07.2023 by conducting programme, like Essay writing (English & Malayalam), and Elocution (English & Malayalam). So that students actively participated and out spread his year’s theme “Overcoming Barriers and Unleashing Opportunities for Social Justice“. Later on winners were honored with exciting prizes.
Prime College of Pharmacy celebrated WORLD YOUTH SKILLS DAY on 15 July 2023 to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship. The theme for World Youth Skills Day 2023 is Skilling teachers, trainers and youth for a transformative future. It highlights the essential role that teachers, trainers and other educators play in providing skills for youth to transition to the labour market and to actively engage in their communities and societies. As part of the World Youth Skills day Prime College of Pharmacy conducted various programmes for our students like poster making, photography and debate. The students actively participated and prizes were distributed to the students.
Prime Pravega 2K23- The cultural fest was celebrated on 26th may 2023. The programme was officially inaugurated by our Principal Prof. Dr. N. L. Gowrishankar. The event was a grand success by the nimble participation of our students. The off-stage and on-stage programme were conducted. The events like pencil drawing, cartoon, painting, light music, classical music, Nadanpattu, group song, mime, Thiruvathirakkali, Margamkkali, Oppana, Vattapattu. The overall championship was presented to the group with highest points in prime Pravega 2K23 and the prize distribution was done at the end of the event.
Kerala Excise Department conducted a drawing competition as a part of their anti drug movement all around the state on the theme “Say NO to Tobacco”. Our Second semester B.Pharm student Wafa Rasheed won the third prize in drawing competition. The prize was received on 26th January 2023, during the Republic day parade in Fort Maidan, Palakkad. The Prize was distributed by Mr. K. R Jayan, Deputy Excise Commissioner.
On behalf of NSS unit MPO32A-126, Prime College of Pharmacy celebrated the 74th Republic Day. All students and staffs of Prime College of Pharmacy enthusiastically participated in the programme. The programme started with a prayer song. B. Pharm fifth semester first rank holder AfnaSherin hoisted the National Flag. Our Vice Principal Mrs. A. Sumathy motivated the students by making them aware of the importance of the day. A speech on the importance of Republic day celebration and a remembrance of all our freedom fighters and struggles undertaken by them to achieve this freedom was delivered during the event. The students enlightened the event with a patriotic song and the event ended with the national anthem.
The Kerala Niyamasabha Secretariat in association with Kerala Legislative Assembly Media and Parliamentary Study Centre conducted a state wide short film competition as a part of awareness campaign on drug addiction. The students of Second semester B.Pharm have actively participated in the making of a short film based on the theme ”SAY NO TO DRUGS and bagged first prize of Rs. 10000 along with certificate and momento.The prizes was distributed in the International Book Festival 2023 by the Kerala PSC member Mr.Roshan Roy Mathew in the presence of Honourable speaker of Kerala Mr. A.N.Shamseer and Secretary Mr. A.M.Basheer. The short film was telecasted and posted in the official channels and social media platforms of Government of Kerala and will be used in the drug awareness campaigns throughout the state.
Kerala Pharmacy Graduates Association (KPGA) jointly with Indian Pharmacy Graduates Association (IPGA) has organized an Essay Writing Competition for Pharmacy students as a part of observance of World Health Day with the theme "Our Planet, Our Health". The preliminary round competitions was conducted in our college on 30th March 2022. The students from our college has actively participated in the competition. The topic for essay was "IMPACT OF PHARMACEUTICAL WASTE ON GLOBAL HEALTH". Mrs.Deborah Evangeline, Associate Professor and Ms. Athira. K.S, Assistant Professor was the evaluators for the competition. The best two essays was selected by them and sent for the final level competition.
Prime Agon 2019- The Sports fest was celebrated at Prime College of Pharmacy on 8th November 2019. A variety of programmes were conducted during the day. The major sports events like Short put, Throw ball, Football, Cricket, Javelin throw were conducted and our students actively participated in all the events. The overall championship was presented to the group with highest points in Prime Agon 2019.

Onam- Our official state festival was celebrated at Prime College of Pharmacy with full of joy and enthusiasm. The students were vibrant in the traditional dress of Kerala. Onappookkalam, Onappaattu and Sadya was the major highlights of the celebration. The Onappookkalam and Onappaattu competitions was conducted batchwise. The programmes were fun filled and prizes were distributed to the winners.
Independence Day celebration was conducted at Prime College of Pharmacy on August l5th 2017. The programme started with a prayer song by our students. The flag was hoisted by our principal Prof. Dr. N. L. Gowrishankar. A speech on the importance of Independence day celebration and a remembrance of all our freedom fighters and struggles undertaken by them to achieve this freedom was delivered during the event. Various programmes like Patriotic songs, Speech etc was presented by our students.

Prime college of Pharmacy celebrated its first Annual Day entitled “PRIM VIDYUDH” on Saturday, 5th May 2018. The programme was graced with the presence of eminent personalities like Hon’ble Chief Guest Dr. R. Manavalan, former Professor and Head of Department of Pharmacy, Annamalai University. Our Chairman, Dr. P. A. Mohammed Ashraf, of Prime Educational and Charitable Trust, Prof. Dr. C. I. Sajeeth, Executive Trustee of Prime Educational and Charitable Trust and Prof. Dr. N. L. Gowrishankar, Principal, Prime College of Pharmacy addressed the gathering. College Annual report of the past session was presented and was followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony for the academic excellence, of students as well as faculty members for achieving good percentage of results and winners of Arts and sports competitions. A seminar on topic “Career in Pharmacy” was presented to our students community by the chief Guest.
Arts and Sports day was celebrated at Prime College of Pharmacy on October 27th, 28th and 1st November 2017. A variety of programmes were conducted during the three days. The major sports events like Short put, Throw ball, Football, Cricket, Javelin throw and stage programmes like mono act, folk dance, classical dance, light music, fancy dress etc were presented.
The second year students of Prime College of Pharmacy organized a warm welcome to our 4th batch of B. Pharmacy Students (2017 – 2021 Batch) by “Nellikka 2017”. The programme was inaugurated with the prayer song followed by a welcome address by our Principal Prof. Dr. N. L. Gowrishankar. It was accompanied by wonderful cultural events and ended with a thanks note by the students.
